Vietnamese Food Challenge – May 2013

In May 2013, with a restless mind and a growling tummy I embarked on a challenge that would change my perspective towards Vietnam and Vietnamese people forever: I ate only Vietnamese food for 7 days.

I called this week ‘Going Cold Turkey’ as I had gotten so used to eating Western food, and spending a ludicrous amount of money in the process, that it felt almost like an addiction. Even though I had pizza-withdrawal symptoms almost immediately, I had to persevere and see it through.

So, I rolled up my hamburger stained sleeves, put on a soup-resistant bib and dug into the mysterious culinary delights, and frights, of Vietnamese cuisine.
